UK Fashion Scene Still Thriving Despite Economic Doldrums

The United Kingdom has been going through plenty of ups and downs in recent months, suffering from the same global economic credit crash that has affected much of the rest of the world, but it is now looking as if the British fashion industry may well have survived virtually unscathed, thanks largely to savvy marketing methods and a rigid austerity in accounting that has served the industry so well in the past. Still a major leader in the world of fashion, Britain has more than 130,000 individuals working in the designer level of the fashion industry, performing a range of roles. These figures come courtesy of the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts in the UK, which discovered that according to its figures based on the research it put together, the British fashion industry is actually expected to grow substantially between 2009 and 2013. This growth actually applies to a number of creative markets and is seen as a very good sign since the over all growth rate is expected to continue to the tune of 4% each year.

Big stars like Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Stella McCartney have all left to pursue careers in Milan, Paris or other fashion capitals, but their avant garde inspirations continue to linger in the nation, inspiring those in the London fashion scene to continue pressing on towards new looks. Top brands such as Burberry have also helped to keep things alive and well. Since the British focus on education in the creative arts is so strong, the nation definitely continues to be a force to be reckoned with in terms of creative professionals.
